Dr. Doug Sladen is an audiologist and associate professor with the School of Audiology and Speech Sciences at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Dr. Sladen earned his masters in audiology from Western Washington University (1994) and his PhD. in Hearing and Speech Sciences from Vanderbilt University in 2006. Dr. Sladenhas 23 years of experience working with cochlear implants. His research interests are focused on cochlear implantation among adults and children. Specifically, his research examines outcomes in speech perception, localization, and health-related quality of life. Most recently Dr. Sladen has developed a special interest in the outcomes of implantation for single-sided deafness (SSD) and has been examining performance using a virtual reality test environment.
